Information Views (IViews) are structures that are used for the data extraction and presentation. In other words, an IView is a tabular report.
- To create an IView in Axpert you need to define an SQL statement. This SQL will extract data from the database and the result will be displayed in a tabular format.
Consider an SQL as given below
Select name, age, gender, grade, department from employees
The SQL result will be displayed as a grid as shown below.
- Axpert lets you add new columns to the grid and use expressions to calculate the value for such columns. You can also use other columns in the IView to calculate the value of a column.
- You can also use parameters in the SQL statement to bring data based on criteria. Parameters are prefixed with : in the SQL statement. The parameter values will be accepted from user at run time before displaying the report.
- More than one SQL statement can be used to bring data. In this case, the result from the two SQL statements will be combined using a concurrent logic as given below.
Assume SQL 1 provides the following result set :
SQL 2 provides the following result set :
The above two result sets are related on the CustomerName column.
The resulting IView will be as follows:
|Name (SQL1)||Amount (SQL1)||Name (SQL2)||Amount (SQL2)|
